Description
Some used and some abandoned Coast Guard lifesaving stations exist on the Outer Banks. SHip wrecks on the reefs are not as frequent as in the day of sailing vessels, yet they do occur. Note the lookout facing the ocean. You can see for miles from that height. Wooden tanks on the right are cisterns to collect rain water in a beach area that is hard pressed for fresh water.
