Artist's Description

The Rondout Lighthouse, built in 1913 at Kingston, is the last and largest lighthouse constructed along the Hudson River. In 2002, the U.S. Coast Guard turned over ownership of the lighthouse to the City of Kingston, which partners with the Hudson River Maritime Museum to care for the structure. While no longer inhabited, the Rondout Lighthouse continues to operate with a working Fresnel lens.
