The Ockawamick Central School (OCS) Alumni Reuniion Art Show will run from May 25 through June 27, 2015. Opening reception is May 25 (Memorial Day) at 10:30am at Philmont Public Library, Main Street, Philmont, NY . Exhibit will include drawings, paintings and photographs by Ken Bovat, Susan Bues, Christine Guarino, Peter Von Sholly, Richard Wambach, Steve Wildermuth and Brian Yorck.

The following short bio is about FFA artist Richard Wambach, Alumni Class of 1965:

Richard is a graphic designer and owner of Wambach Communications Group, Inc., a marketing and creative services agency for 43 years. He started Nic & Wambach Creative Arts with business partner Nic VH in 2012 specifically to create portfolios of black and white drawings of historic scenes in the Hudson Valley, NY and Northeast Kingdom, VT.

He credits Mrs. Knicke, his high school art teacher, with encouraging him to seek a career as a “commercial artist” (in 1965 people said an artist was a hippie, how could you make a living?). He enrolled in a two-year Associates program of Commercial Art with Fine & Applied Arts degree from Dutchess Community, Poughkeepsie, NY. Wambach graduated at the top of his art class in 1967 and recipient of the David Lax Gold Metal in the Arts award. While still attending college, was hired by a Poughkeepsie printer in their art department, enlisted for a 3-year tour with the US Army (101st Airmobile Division, Republic of Vietnam 1968) and had his artist job waiting at the print shop upon his return until he started his own company in 1972.

While advertising, marketing, graphic design and promoting his client’s commercial products and services was his mainstay for 43 years, Richard’s main interest was always drawing. So he is making more time for drawing and displaying at both outdoor & indoor shows from Spring to Fall throughout the Hudson Valley and NEK Vermont. He has had one-man shows at the Hyde Park Library gallery and the Rhinebeck Bank atrium gallery recently and has displays in several gift shops in Vermont. He can often be found at arts & crafts shows, farmer’s markets and other weekend street festivals in Columbia and Dutchess Counties. He has also accepted many commissions to draw peoples homes, farms, yachts and antique autos as well as continuing to build his own portfolio of popular historic subjects.

Richard is excited to be displaying his artwork along with his fellow alumni artists at the OCS Alumni Reunion Art Show at the Philmont Library from May 25 through June 27. He said:

“This reunion event is kind of a major highlight of my long career. Being able to show with my fellow alumni artists – some new acquaintances and some old, dear friends – is quite an unexpected honor that I hope to cherish for a long time to come!”

Richard Wambach of Nic & Wambach Creative Arts set out to create the series of eight drawings this summer in time for the Annual Old Stone House Museum day in August 2014. This important series depicts the structures that comprise the Old Stone House Museum village in Brownington Center, Brownington, Vermont. The Orleans County Historical Society is responsible for the ongoing upkeep and educational programming that is active year round at this beautiful historic site. The images include: The Old Stone House, The Alexander Twilight House, The Lawrence Barn, Museum Education Center, Cyrus Eaton House, Samuel Read Hall House, Brownington Congregational Church and Prospect Hill Observatory Tower.

Richard Wambach, Nic & Wambach Creative Arts, will be the featured business display at the Opening session of the Village of Red Hook Summer Farmer's Market, Saturday, May 24, 2014, located at the Village Parking Lot on South Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571. The market opens from 10:00am until 2:00pm every Saturday through October.

Richard Wambach, Nic & Wambach Creative Arts, will be the featured business display at the Opening session of the Village of Red Hook Summer Farmer's Market, Saturday, May 24, 2014, located at the Village Parking Lot on South Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571. The market opens from 10:00am until 2:00pm every Saturday through October.

Richard Wambach, Nic & Wambach Creative Arts, in conjunction with Gregory Callahan, director of the library, will host an artist's reception open to the public at the Annex Gallery of the Hyde Park Free Library on Wednesday, May 21, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.The exhibition of 25 drawings is entitled "From Valley to Vermont." Light refreshments and open discussion will be provided. The library is located at 2 Main Street, Hyde Park, NY 12538. The show is ongoing until the end of June.

Artist Richard Wambach will hang his one-man show at the Hyde Park Free Library Annex Gallery on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The show will run through mid-June with an artist's reception mid-way to be announced. Wambach's displays will include his recent Hyde Park historic scenes, Hudson Valley rural landscapes and landmarks, Vermont's Northeast Kingdom covered bridges, barns and sugar houses and a few retro pieces from his 1970s North Carolina Outer Banks collection.

Admission is free. All digital prints being displayed are for sale. The annex gallery is also home to weekend events such as open mic music sessions, intimate performances of local well know music personalities, poetry readings and book signings. Check the Hyde Park Free Library web site for hours of operation and complete schedule of events.

Richard Wambach, of Nic & Wambach Creative Arts, will be displaying his drawings of classic and antique automobiles along with a portfolio of drawings of historic scenes around the Hudson Valley and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. He will also be taking commission orders at the event of owner's vehicles, motor cycles, sailing vessels, airplanes, farms and residences. Or purchase a number of styles of prints, matted, matted/framed, and stretched canvas museum prints in a variety of sizes from his current portfolio of fine quality digital reproductions of his original detailed drawings.

Visit him at vendor booth H-13-14 throughout the 3-day event.

Swap Meet Description

The Swap Meet at Rhinebeck has been a favorite among car collectors from all over the Northeast for years. Our objective is to make this the most vendor friendly Swap Meet around. There are a large amount of Swap Spaces at Rhinebeck both Outside and Inside that consist of four large well lighted buildings. Remember Show Opens @ 12:00 Noon on Friday the Swap Meet is open to Paid Spectators. Gates open again at 6:00 Am Saturday.

I had seen this particular location with the turtles sunning and a great heron nearby everytime I cycled past this section of the Roe Jan Creek in Elizaville, New York. I finally remembered my camera one day and captured the images I needed to create this interesting drawing. Thank you for the feature in the Wildlife Group

I am fascinated with old, rusted farm equipment. I can remember riding on a horse-drawn rake that my grandfather pulled with his old Farmall tractor. He let me pull the rope to trip the rake at just the right time to make a windrow making it easier to pick up the hay with a pitch fork. Now we have bailers. I can hardly resist passing any old piece of equipment such as this planter without saying "I have to draw that one!" Thank you for the feature on your group Barns Big and Small, Debra and Dave!

I enjoy drawing old barns. Every one has its own unique character. And there they stand year after year in all seasons, even if falling down, with the dignity of yester year! Thank you Debra and Dave for the feature on your Group Barns Big and Small.

I am excited to create a new gallery of work that I completed in the 1970s while family vacationing on Ocracoke Island, Cape Hatteras (Outer Banks), North Carolina. I used to divide my time between surf fishing, photography, drawing and of course eating all the delicious Ocracoke breakfasts, lunches and dinners. At first we rented fisherman's cottages from the Pony Island Motel for a few years, then we rented a condo in the Village of Ocracoke. I was there one January all by myself and rented a couple of rooms from a charter captain I fished with in the summer. They were in Florida for the winter. Part of my payment for the accommodations was a drawing of his charter boat to use in his brochures. This represents a body of work that was very pleasurable to me since I was drawing and relaxing and not working because I had to, but because I wanted to. I am trying to get back to that point with my current body of work. I hope everyone enjoys this gallery. I will be posting more. Right now there are 21 images there.

I just discovered in some research that this covered bridge is one of the few remaining active in the Vermont State highway system. Most of the existing bridges are located on town, county or private roads throughout Vermont. The Miller's Run bridge is also unique in that its design includes a foot path component allowing safe passage for bicyclists and pedestrians along this busy stretch of state highway near Lyndonville, VT.

It means a lot to me to get recognition on the Barns Big and Small Group, Debra and Dave. I love the images members of the group have published and I am thrilled to be part of it!
